Workplace Health and Safety Policy
Purpose
Sekusile Technical Services is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. This policy outlines the Company’s commitment to workplace health and safety, and sets forth the procedures for identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace hazards.
Scope
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and visitors at all Sekusile Technical Services facilities.
Definitions
- Hazard: A source or situation with the potential to cause harm.
- Risk: The likelihood that a hazard will cause harm.
- Incident: An event that causes or could have caused harm.
- Accident: An unplanned event that causes harm.
Responsibilities
Management
- Provide leadership and commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Develop and implement a workplace health and safety management system.
- Ensure that all employees have the training and resources they need to work safely.
- Investigate all incidents and accidents.
- Take corrective action to prevent future incidents and accidents.
Employees
- Follow all workplace health and safety rules and procedures.
- Report all hazards, incidents, and accidents to their supervisor.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Participate in workplace health and safety training.
Contractors
- Comply with all applicable Sekusile Technical Services workplace health and safety rules and procedures.
- Conduct their own workplace hazard assessments and implement appropriate controls.
- Provide their employees with the training and resources they need to work safely.
- Report all hazards, incidents, and accidents to Sekusile Technical Services.
Visitors
- Follow all applicable Sekusile Technical Services workplace health and safety rules and procedures.
- Report any hazards they observe to their host or to a Sekusile Technical Services employee.
Hazard Identification and Assessment
Sekusile Technical Services will conduct regular hazard assessments to identify and assess workplace hazards. The hazard assessment process will involve:
- Identifying potential hazards.
- Assessing the likelihood and severity of potential harm from each hazard.
- Implementing appropriate controls to eliminate or minimize the risk of harm from each hazard.
Hazard Controls
Sekusile Technical Services will implement a hierarchy of controls to eliminate or minimize workplace hazards. The hierarchy of controls is as follows:
- Elimination: Remove the hazard from the workplace.
- Substitution: Replace the hazard with a less hazardous substance or process.
- Engineering controls: Design or modify equipment or work processes to isolate the hazard from employees.
- Administrative controls: Implement procedures or work practices to reduce employee exposure to the hazard.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE): Provide employees with PPE to protect them from exposure to hazards.
Incident and Accident Investigation
Sekusile Technical Services will investigate all incidents and accidents to determine their cause and to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The investigation process will involve:
- Interviewing witnesses.
- Examining evidence.
- Identifying the root cause of the incident or accident.
- Recommending corrective actions to prevent future incidents or accidents.
Training and Education
Sekusile Technical Services will provide all employees with training on workplace health and safety. The training will cover the following topics:
- Hazard identification and assessment.
- Hazard controls.
- Incident and accident reporting.
- Emergency procedures.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Recordkeeping
Sekusile Technical Services will maintain records of all workplace hazards, incidents, accidents, and training activities. These records will be used to track the Company’s performance in workplace health and safety, and to identify areas for improvement.
Review and Revision
This policy will be reviewed and revised on an annual basis, or as needed.
